What we Know

What We Know

When you don’t know, you don’t know.
But, when you know, you can’t not know.

A year ago, Joe was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We did not know the processes that would consume our lives as we dealt with options, doctors, treatments, tests, opinions, waiting, and praying. Until you are the diagnosed or the caregiver, you don’t know. We now know the dance of cancer, of worry and optimism, of listening and anticipating and of genuinely knowing how precious life feels.
Sometimes, we don’t know until we must know and sometimes, we pretend we don’t know.

Listening to an interview with Dr. Zach Bush MD, a physician specializing in internal medicine and endocrinology, I, once again, came to know the function of regenerative energy in our body between our health and the food we eat. Every part of our being, from our skin, organs, skeletal, neurological and blood flow system is involved in mitochondria; the energy released during the oxidation of the food we eat and the health it provides. The role of microbiome, nutrition, hormonal balance, mindfulness, and the presence to maximize the health of our gut-skin axis, improves healthful aging, and reimagines what it means to be healthy and beautiful. The underlying foundation to beauty is wellness. We cannot pretend we don’t know our responsibility to our health.
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve said or heard someone say, "if I could go back in time with the knowledge I now have, I would do things differently!" As we age, learn, and grow, we come to know that we can’t go back. We can only go forward, and that today matters greatly. Knowing that every choice we make, we are not only communicating with others, but at a physical cellular level, as well as our mental, emotional, and spiritual alliance, we are in communion with ourselves. Today, we can do and be what we know.
Admit you don’t know. Have you noticed the older you get, the more you don’t know? In an article from Industry Tap written by David Schilling, he says, "not only is human knowledge, on average, doubling every 13 months, we are quickly on our way, with the help of the Internet, to the doubling of knowledge every 12 hours."  So, here’s the deal: we are not going to know it all. Admit you don’t know…in the long run, it’s easier and less complicated.

What we know. What do most ‘thinking’ people want to know? What is the meaning of life? There are numerous books, documentaries, articles, blogs, and theories examining this inquiry. I have come to know that the meaning of life is unexpectedly simple. I discovered this through my research and in participating in life. I believe it’s worth examining.

What is The Meaning of Life? Aristotle said," Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.” For him and most of his contemporaries, happiness referred not to an emotion but the long-term pattern of action, the sum of which was your moral character.

Furthermore, the meaning of life consists of individuals collectively engaged in finding happiness through love and concern for each other. It turns out that individual and collective well-being, happiness, and meaning are all closely related. Summary – Happiness and love are the meaning of life.

From a more current expert on healthy aging, happiness, meaning and purpose, Dr. Mark Hyman the quintessential pioneer of functional medicine, in his 2023 book, Young Forever, writes; ‘Whatever strategy you develop for health and longevity, it must include nurturing and developing your own social fabric of belonging, meaning, and purpose."

And now we know more!

Love,
Hilda
