Sane and Happy

The only way to stay sane and remain happy is to engage in rational thinking and insist on being happy. It’s not easy. But here are some bits of rational happy inspiration. Always look for encouraging information. And when you find it, apply it to your life.

Read inspirational books, even a novel has juicy insights and characters that will provide you with a glimmer of hope. Someone Else’s Shoes by JoJo Moyes will keep you on your toes and happy to be a sensible person. The collection of books by Donna Leon, with 32 novels based on Commissario Guido Brunetti, detective in the Italian State Police, and stationed in Venice, is entertaining and gives you a bird’s eye view of life in Italy…so fun. Of course, there is always a murder, but it’s worth the entertainment value. And Commissario Brunetti is a rational thinker, and you’ll be happy you discovered him.
Some TV Series are immensely entertaining and keep you laughing and happy. Ted Lasso, starring Jason Sudeikis and the cast of characters is one of those inspiring series that will make you laugh out loud. Even the ending when you’re crying is still uplifting. Just ignore the language, and concentrate on the happy factor, it’s worth watching. It’s summer. Binge on Coach Ted Lasso. You’ll be happy you did.

An inspiring person for me is CCV Pastor Ashley Wooldridge. CCV is a non-denominational Christian church where faith and real life intersect. Recently I listened to Pastor Ashley’s Sunday message and was inspired and happy to hear his rational take on knowing vs doing. Here are a few highlights from his message, “What are you Building Your Life On?”
Pastor Ashley went on to say; “Success in life is 100% dependent on bridging the gap between I know vs I do. Bridging the gap between what I know and what I do. Success is bridging that gap. I know what to do, but am I actually doing it? Information does not equal transformation. Application equals transformation.

How many know we should be eating better and exercising more? We all know it! There is more information out there on eating better and exercising more than at any time in our lives. The information is there!
We are overweight on information, and we are starving on application. Information is not the end, and be all, you must apply it to your life.
When the McDonalds corporation asked their clients what they wanted from McDonalds that they were not getting, survey said, ‘a healthy burger.’ They came out with the McLean Deluxe……91% fat free and 100% delicious. No one bought it. It bombed!  They canceled the burger. People had the information about health but did not apply it to their lives.
We know what we are supposed to do, and we don’t do it. We have become bloated on information, and we are malnourished.”

We all know the definition of insanity; doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. This is not only insanity, but unhappiness. To my point. The only way to stay sane and remain happy is to engage in rational thinking and insist on being happy. Know what is good for you and do the right thing for you to be sane and happy. Apply your knowledge and don’t be bloated on information.

Love,
Hilda
